Our trip to Hawaii was fantastic but it is always good to be home. Our trip back left alot to be desired starting out with an over two hour delay in Honolulu due to some navigational thing with the plane. This delay caused us to miss our connecting flight in San Francisco back to Redmond. We ended up spending the night at the airport on the floor last night instead of arriving in Redmond last night late. Oh joy. Our luggage was delivered about 8:00 this eve. We finally did make it home by early afternoon. Considering how little we do fly, this was a first time this has happened.
We are home and glad to be back. Sure miss those 80 degree days and warm water already.

The road to Hana.....
We got an early start and headed to Hana. Easy, slow drive and on the way, it was raining. Lots of falls and fast water coming down off the mountain. Once we got there, we had some lunch and it was sunny and dry. Very quiet, little town with many natives. We went all the way around the island and got back around 3:00. Enjoy the pictures; they do not do anything justice.

Maui
Arrived Maui yesterday and are staying at Aston Maui Kihei. We took a drive to Lahaina today; which is about 17 miles away from Kihei. Lahaina is a busy little town with wall to wall shops. Like a bigger Sisters and right next to the ocean. After we got back, we took a trip down to the beach again. The tide was coming in and we were able to ride through some pretty good size swells and the waves were pretty good size when they were breaking over. I managed to get off balance coming in and dredged the shore for awhile. Needless to say, I had sand everywhere you could imagine.
Only cactus we have seen so far...on the way to Makena towards the lava fields |
