January..coming to an end

It is Sunday, January 29th and we just got back from church.  It is bitter cold outside at 30 degrees.  Our snow accumulation is melting gradually; which is best.

I was able to finally dig out my gates and drag and clean up a little yesterday.  Meaggie topped the wood box for me and I blew out the garage, sidewalks and my barn.  It is so nice to see my lawn and gravel again.  I think we are on the down hill slide of our winter snow fall.

Posted quite a few pictures because the scenery is so pretty.
The melting process

Still had quite a bit of snow here

Dennis did this...thinking he could go over three foot of snow just because he had chains on.

The sun made the mountains almost pink

Finally dug out and seeing our driveway again

The sun is OUT!!!

Casino is busted...messing with my flowers..again...
After several days of snow and cloud cover, the sun came out today.  No more snow in the forecast and it is just supposed to be cold.  We did some major clearing and have good trails to the barn and around.    We should have a week's break from the snow anyway.  The sun finally coming out makes everything that more gorgeous.
My picket fence is shrinking

January 8th- Sunday..

These last few weeks since Christmas have been kind of brutal.  Over 20 inches of new powder and cold (single numbers) at night and even during the day.  Clearing the snow has not been a total issue since we have the quad and equipment but the cold is something I don't deal with very well.  Even hanging my hoses down so they will drain, has not worked.  What little moisture inside  has frozen them solid.  Hauling water by hand to my ponies; who are in their stalls snug, warm and dry has been a pain in my butt.  The worry of them not getting enough water weighs heavy on my mind.  Extra scoops of Forco in their feed helps ease my mind a bit.

Woke up this morning to heavy snow falling...and it was cold....10 degrees maybe.   We finally got a break in weather this afternoon and the sun came out!    Dennis did major blading  and clearing and I shoveled our sidewalks and dug out the corral gate.    Good, clear  trails down to the barn, the manure pile, the corral and we are clear again in our driveway and in front of the garage.   Stalls are clean.  I am feeling in control once again.

My Casino and Tucker are out tonight.  Trough is full and clean (new hose and a little bleach) and they are fine.  Although Casino is used to being stalled, he has been a stinker these past few days.  Boredom has caused destruction of one large tub and his haybag.  He ripped the whole upper portion off at the seams.  It can be repaired.    I just ordered two (16 gallon-Farm Innovator)  heated tubs from State Line Tack today.   Water is such a worry when they are down there and I am over-sensitive on the subject.  Good reviews and with them being in their stalls, they should do the trick.

Tomorrow is a new day and they are calling for warmer temps, sun and hardly any snow.  I am planning on going for a ride.
