New Master bed light fixtures and dining room ceiling medallion ....March 31st-

We have finally replaced the original shadow boxes in our bedroom and the other two lights have fixtures on them.  They look lovely.

Dennis just put my ceiling medallion up in my dining room.  It also, looks lovely.

I am getting ready to distress my book shelves and sand and re-stain an old dresser that will be going into our closet.  Stay tuned.......
We closed up our bedroom nearly 25 years ago and just now, we have fixtures.

There were shadow boxes on these.  So time for a change.

Done-for now March 20th thru March 23rd

All complete and ready for hardwood to be laid April 9th and carpet the following Tuesday.

All painted-living room and dining, stair, our bathroom and our closet.  Rag stained all of the wood jams and trim around the windows and doors.  Once that was done, it just brings back new life to the wood.

Just got back from Tacoma, WA and Oregon City today.  Went to the Bill O'Rielly "Spin stops Here" at the Tacoma Dome with Mike and Pat.  Good trip and visit.

Just a few small projects on the schedule this week.  Painting and distressing my bookcases; both the large and small one.  Denny is going to sand and refinish by oak dining room table and leaf.  We are in a "breathe" zone now.  Just waiting for the wood floors and carpet.  Once that is done, trim goes back on and the house gets put back together.
There is a rainbow here....

My ceiling medallion.

The window jams and trim look so much better.

Sunday-March 20th.....lovely day for a ride................

Both Saturday and Sunday I was finally able to get my butt on my horse.  Devin joined me on Sunday.  He was such a good boy considering he has been off for nearly two weeks due to weather.

Beams and Cedar - Done

Dennis got the beams all stained and just today, finished the staining of the cedar.   With what he had on before, it dried blotchy and looked really bad so..........  went to Home Depot and the guy suggested a stain; which we picked.  It is a little darker but gives everything a warm look.  It hid all of the blotches and the water stains that we had a problem with nearly 30 years ago.  It turned out lovely.

Dining, living and downstairs coat closet is freshly painted with "water chestnut".  It also looks lovely.  Fresh and clean.

Scaffolds have been returned back to Hooker Creek.  Those were easier to take down than set up.

Next will be fresh paint in our bathroom, bedroom and closet.  Then we will be done and waiting for our hardwood guy to put the floor down the first week in April  After he is done, trim goes back on and new carpet in all the bedrooms and stairs goes down.

Then we are going camping....

Dennis had the hardest jobs with the beams and cedar.

It was well worth it.

Blast from the Past -

1997

1998

Spring Project under way....started Monday, March 6th-

Monday, we started our second and FINAL makeover.  All furniture, pictures, etc was taken out of living room and dining.  Carpet and pad was taken up and all tack strips and staples were removed.

Today is Thursday and Denny finished staining the beams.  After 36 years, they now look like brand new again.    Tomorrow, he will start on the cedar and re-lacquer all of that.  I will be starting on the painting.

Everything has gone pretty well.  We rented scaffolds and they are two stories high.  Our vaulted ceilings have not been pleasant, I have to be honest.  It took Dennis over a half day to finish them and now they are gorgeous.

Once all of the painting is done, we will be ready for the hardwood floor to go down the first week in April.  Then new carpet in all the bedrooms..

Looking forward to this to be done.......we are both sore.😆

Jeannette's hutch won't be in the dining room when we are done.  Surprise!

Hutch will go here but over towards the switches.

My computer room looks like an antique store.

Hutch will go here next to my bookcase; which I am going to distress in sage green.

Habitat was able to take both the carpet and pad.

This was the dirt swept up in the traffic area.  Almost 15 years worth.  Not too bad considering the first time around.

Empty.

Trim moulding off, tack boards removed and staples gone.  Ready for hardwood.

This was hard work.  Denny did a super job

Mountain scene that Denny started on my potting shed.  It will hide the dings he put in it.
